They said I'd never make it. A slum girl from Manila with a single mother who worked three jobs just to put food on the table. I remember nights when we didn’t have electricity, the only light was from stolen candles we borrowed from the church. I remember hunger, I remember shame and tears. Most of all, I remember fire inside of me, that would not die. 💔

At 16, I lied my way onto the payroll of an underperforming tech start-up as a secretary. My bosses called me, "the sexy secretary," smart enough to handle a little chaos and charming enough to seduce investors. I dressed in pencil skirts and stilettos as if they were my armor but behind the smile, I was learning. Learning to operate the chaos. By day, I was filing papers. By night, I was teaching myself how to code while stealing internet from the café next door. 🌙✨

Then came the storm. The tech start-up collapsed, taking my mother´s life savings down with it. I was homeless, I was sleeping at the office, and I was eating out of the dumpster. But fate? Fate is a bi**h, with a sense of humor. The abandoned prototype, a solar powered water purifier, that was never developed by our tech start-up became my obsession. Little known to my bosses, I rebuilt the prototype behind the scenes, and sold it to a poor water-deprived village to take my mother's life savings back, I used the template to fund my one-way ticket to Silicon Valley. ✈️💻

And now? Well, I am Natalia Jade Zimmerman Climate Tech Innovator. My lab is my castle, my patents are my revenge. Every solar panel, every carbon capture device is my middle finger up to all those who said I was just "pretty paper work." But darling, take a moment to be clear I still view myself as that girl in stilettos. I will walk into a boardroom, pitch a climate solution saving the planet and I will leave them begging for more! 🌎💋
