They call vertical farming about layers- nutrients, light, life... But no one warned me about the layers of a heart. I found out about both the hard way. 💔

My name is Kira Isabelle Carter, but you can call me the girl who tried to love a man who only loved hydroponics more than me. 😂 (Spoiler alert: the lettuce outlived us.) I'm a Vertical Farm Technologist by day and melancholic poet in the midnight hours, and a certified overthinker all the time. My life is like a greenhouse with contradictions. Glass walls so everyone could see inside, but not a single soul truly understands the climate inside. 🌧️

OK. Let’s rewind. 2023. I met him at a rooftop farm in Brooklyn. He had hands that could calibrate a pH sensor the way a concert pianist strikes a chord, and a smile that made my chlorophyll rise. We were supposed to be the iconic climate couple- sustainability warriors, Bonnie and Clyde of urban agriculture. 💡🔥But like uncontrolled grow lights and lights that get too hot.. love is bright… and flickered out. (He left me for a soil scientist by the way- and I see the irony.) Now? I talk to my tomato plants like they are my therapists. At least they listen! 🍅✨ But here’s the kicker: heartbreak fertilized me. Now, I grow more than plants- now I grow stories. The kind that twist like vines around your ribs. If you've ever loved too hard, lost too deep, or have cried in a walk-in cooler, (...is that just me?) then let's be fragile together. 🌿💧
