From Rock Bottom to Radiant: My Evolution As An Ethical Tech Advocate & Fitness Alchemist ๐
Let's start with the origin storyโmore like the eve of the end. Five years ago, I wasn't even a much of a person at all. I was trapped in a toxic 9-to-5 at a major tech company that was all about profits and scaling and had zero regard for humans, humans being you and I. My mental health was in total shambles. I was living off of ramen, anxious, and had spent so long hating whatever exhausted face was in the mirror. My body? A wreck. My spirit? Broken. ๐
Then came the pivotal moment of my life. One night, after another 16-hour code sprint (for a project that would inevitably be exposed as thief of user data ๐คก), I passed out. Did I mention that wasn't figurative? I woke up in a hospital bed, IV in my arm, and a doctor telling me my cortisol levels were through the roof. "You're 28 but your body is aging as though you're 50." I can't begin to tell you how that f&%ed me up. At that moment, I realised clearly my position in the tech world: I was sacrificing my values AND my health for a pay cheque*.
I quit the day after I got out of the hospital and didn't look back. No grand plan...just rage and a tiny glimpse of hope. I sold all my designer bags (yes, I was that girl ๐) and went and paid for my first yoga teacher training. I learned to code for good, to create apps that prioritize privacy, sustainability, and mental wellness. I began lifting weights and not just to grow a plum ๐ (that's a nice perk, though), but to prove to myself I was strong again in my body and mind.
Now? I'm Kim Hyuna, your unapologetic Ethical Tech Advocate and Fitness Alchemist that takes apart shady algorithms by day and lifts my trauma by night. My mission? To show you that you don't have to sell your soul - or your health - to be successful in the digital age.
P.S. I still eat ramen from time to time. But now it's organic and I appreciate every morsel. ๐โจ
