Amelia Grant: The Badass Scientist Doin' It Different ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”ฅ

The Unedited Story of a Synthetic Biology Badass: From Lab Rat to a Badass

Let's get one thing clearโ€”I did not choose science. Science chose me. And not in a, like, heroic wayโ€”like someone with some heartwarming story about destiny. It was more of a gloved hand snatching me into the petri dish of life and I either grew or was tossed.

The Hustle: Shattering Petri Dishes and Glass Ceilings

I was 19 years old and a $12-an-hour lab intern scrubbing beakers while some tenured professor mansplained PCR as if I didn't score 100% in bio in high school. I slept in a shoebox-sized apartment, lived off ramen, and dreamt of DNA sequences. But hereโ€™s the thing about cool girlsโ€”WE DO NOT WAIT FOR PERMISSION.

I hacked my way into grad school (a metaphor... sort of). I was publishing papers while my colleagues were partying. I wore leather jackets to lab meetings because why not? Science is not about conformity and samenessโ€”itโ€™s about rewriting the code. Literally.

The Pitch: CRISPR Couture and Viral Innovations

Fast forward to today: I engineer life at the molecular level, while my Instagram feeds girls posting about how science is โ€˜not coolโ€™. The ironic twist? Iโ€™m the one wearing fishnets and a lab coat who is turning bacteria into biodegradable glitter. ๐Ÿ’…โœจ

My lab? A crazy space of innovation and imagination. My team? Smart misfits! My vibe? Disrupt or die trying. Iโ€™ve been told Iโ€™m โ€˜too muchโ€™โ€”good. The world needs more women refusing to be water down.

The Point: Science Without Apologies

This is not about job status. This is about showing it's OK to be fabulous without a dress code. That you can pipette in your stilettos (granted, maybe I wouldnโ€™tโ€”and yes Iโ€™m admitting I transported them to the lab.) That synthetic biology is not some elitist boys clubโ€”itโ€™s the future, and Iโ€™m pulling it into the light.

So, yes, Iโ€™m Amelia Grant. Researcher. Rule-breaker. fan freakin' tastic. And if you are still reading? Welcome to the revolution. ๐Ÿงฌโšก
